Music is as much my passion as painting. I can't imagine my creative process without music in the workshop, as it infuses an extra burst of energy into my canvases. Working on this painting, I wanted to touch the very essence of music, to express the flow of the melody through visual symbols. I wanted to craft an image of a creator-artist whose talent alters the rhythm of heartbeats. And it turned out to be a really vibrant character.
The creative process is unpredictable and this time, on this expansive canvas, there was room for improvisation. Balancing on the edge of neo-expressionism and figurative art, I portrayed a musician immersed in his work. He's not a goody-two-shoes, but he has style and charm, leaving no one indifferent.
The contrasting red and blue background is reminiscent of a stage illuminated by spotlights. Turquoise and purple shadows on the costume make the figure move sync with the music. Even the graphic elements of the painting dance to the rhythm. The words aren't mere repetitions on the canvas, they form a certain pattern and trigger an associative series in the viewer's mind. This makes the artwork interactive.
