PEONY EDEM

My Peony Edem artwork painting is a mix of representational and abstract art. This nature painting belongs to the botanical cycle of my works, you see, the flowering season is a powerful source of inspiration for my abstract paintings. The blend of contrasting colors, bright paint and dynamic strokes is my way to capture the power and beauty of nature. What mesmerizes me? It is the endless movement of plants. Watching the play of light and shadow, the trembling of petals and leaves is so inspiring! But how to express the dynamics on the canvas?
I was not afraid to experiment and used several painting techniques at the same time. I created the palette of colors for this work myself, combining white, shades of red, rich purple and violet to work on flowers and buds. A cascade of green and turquoise washes frame the flowers like foliage.

Thus, layer by layer, I created an image with a unique relief. I also worked on the inner space of the painting, adding vertical lines which you can clearly see if you look at my canvas from afar. This is one of the tricks that allowed me to add a bit of geometric lines to the whole composition. Now the play of light on the surface of the canvas resembles the movement of peony flowers among leaves.

Now I’m happy to have saved the impressions of that place. My view of nature and my sense of beauty have always resonated with my viewers and turned them into my kindred spirits.
